Although released from his WWE developmental contract earlier this month, the former El Hijo del Médico Asesino’s final FCW match was not aired until this past weekend. He lost to a returning Eric Rowan in a quick squash match, he’d even adopted a new attitude which hinted at an egotistical and vain character after unmasking earlier in the year. It is worth mentioning that Benecio Salazar had not appeared without his mask in his native Mexico and it is unknown why he was unmasked and then released.
At 6′ 3″ and 225lbs he seemed to have the sort of build that WWE favours, I would imagine that he was uncovered for the same reason that Alberto Del rio was, that being that he is quite handsome and more marketable to an American audience without the mask.
This has now left him in somewhat of a tricky situation if he is to return to Mexico, will he return to the El Hijo del Médico Asesino gimmick or will he obey Lucha tradition and remain maskless?
He showed a lot of promise in FCW, and despite only turning pro in 2006, he is an accomplished and confident worker who will do well if he should return to his native country. I hate to see a masked luchador lose his mask for no real reason, and hope that he does well in the future.
